National Science Week 2011 will be launched at the Westville Campus of the University of KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday, 30 July 2011. Sasol Techno X exhibition will take place from 16-19 August 2011. The exhibition will have displays, workshops, tours, talks and hands-on activities about the endless possibilities of science and technology and is aimed at enthusiastic learners, students and the general public. The Sixth Science Centre World Congress will be held in Cape Town from 4-8 September 2011. The theme is “Science Centres Across Cultures”. The hosts are the Cape Town Science Centre, the Southern African Association of Science and Technology Centres, and the North Africa and Middle East Science Centers Network. The Eskom Expo for Young Scientists National Finals will be held at Birchwood, Viewpoint Road, Boksburg, from 7-8 October 2011. For more information visit www.exposcience.co.za.
The AstroQuiz Finals will take place at Boyden Observatory, Bloemfontein, on 28 October 2011. Teams of finalists from the 10 participating centres will compete for the top prize in this annual quiz for Grade 7 learners, organised by SAASTA.
