Ms. Anthea Roberts has been with the Schools Development Unit (SDU) at the University of Cape Town for 15 years. She holds the position of Senior Education Specialist, Mathematics Education. She manages the Mathematics team of education specialists, and is currently also the project manager for the UCT-in-Eden project, which runs in 16 schools in the George-Knysna-Oudtshoorn area. Her experience at SDU includes various teacher professional development programmes for GET and FET mathematics and mathematical literacy, as well as materials development.
Prior to joining SDU Anthea was a high school teacher in Grassy Park, Cape Town where she taught from 1977 to 2002. Her teaching experience includes mathematics, English and history. In 1998 she was awarded the Claude Leon Harris Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching. Her research interest is an evaluation of the resources learners use to solve linear equations.
