Ms. Maureen Phathisiwe Sithole

Maureen Phathisiwe Sithole is 44 years old and is a married mother of three sons. She is commonly known as Phathi. Phathi is a qualified Mathematics and Physical sciences teacher. She has the following qualifications in her study field: Secondary Teachers Diploma (STD in Mathematics and Physical Sciences) from Eshowe College of Education; Further Diploma in Education (FDE in Mathematics and Physical Sciences) from South African College for Open Learning; Advanced Certificate in Education (ACE in Mathematical Literacy) from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University; B. Ed Honours (B. Ed Hons in Maths and Science Education) from University of KwaZulu-Natal and Masters in Education (M. Ed in Mathematics Education). Phathi is currently doing PhD in Science Education with the University of Zululand.

Her  work experience is as follows: Maths and Science teacher at Thulasibone high (1999-2000); Nomathiya high (2000-2004); Head of Maths and Science Department at Ndabeziphezulu high (2004-2007); Maths and Science co-coordinator at Maths Centre for Professional Teachers (2008-2009); Subject specialist (Physical sciences) in KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education at UMkhanyakude District (2009-to date).

Phathi has part-time jobs such as: ACE Mathematical literacy tutor at UKZN (2007-2009); ACE Physical sciences Tutor at UKZN (2010-2011); NPDE Mathematics Tutor at Free State University (2012-2013); Chemistry Analytical moderator for KZN Department of Education (2011-2014); School-Based Assessment moderator at National Department of Basic Education (2013- to date); UMALUSI External Moderator for NSC examinations (2014- to date); UMALUSI Evaluator & Subject Specialist (2014- to date).
