- Lectured for forty years (1967-2006) at UDW/UKZN.
- Was appointed Associate Professor in 1982, and full Professor in 1992.
- Presently Emeritus Professor at UKZN.
- Co-authored a research monograph entitled Classification of Commutative FPF Rings with an American colleague, Carl Faith, published in Spain.
- Contributed numerous articles to research and teaching journals.
- Was External Moderator (Umalusi) for the National Mathematics Grade 12 papers (1990 – 2017).
- Was involved with AMESA for over 30 years. Delivered over fifty talks to teachers on various aspects of school mathematics, even primary school.
- Presently national academic coordinator, regional coordinator and coach for the Siyanqoba Mathematics project, a project that covers 8 training centres at six S A Universities
- Provide training for all prospective Siyanqoba coaches.
- Involved in a number of training programmes for teachers who train learners for participation in Olympiads.
- Have co-authored several books, amongst them Study Guides for matriculants and a first year university text.
- Single author of A Training Manual for South African Olympiads (SAMF 2014, 227 pages, 309 problems with complete solutions, 100 pages of lessons providing theoretical background to Olympiad problems)
- In the process of completing the second edition of AA Training Manual, adding almost 600 new problems with complete solutions. Suitable for SAMO Rounds 1,2 &3, SA Team Competition training and PAMO preparation.
