Stevens Mocheki
Stevens Mocheki is a science journalist intern for the South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA), a business unit of the National Research Foundation (NRF). He is hosted by TUT FM where he covers, reports and anchors news (science, health & technology related news; politics and general news).
Before Joining SAASTA, Stevens worked as a Communications Officer for the Knowledge Management Directorate within the Corporate Services Division at National Treasury, where he was responsible for all communications and marketing related matters of the unit in National Treasury.
Stevens previously worked for the same unit as a Knowledge and Communications Graduate Intern, before assuming the role of a Communications Officer where he was responsible for, among others, the management of the paper trail document management system; marketing & communications; management of the National Treasury intranet; modelling of business processes; organising and facilitating trainings.
He enrolled for an undergraduate degree in Media Studies at the University of Limpopo (Turfloop Campus) and graduated in 2012, he then went on to do his honours in Communication Studies at the same university in 2013. For his honours degree, he conducted research on organisations’ use of social networking sites as communication platforms and how best to leverage them (the platforms).
Stevens was born and raised in a small village of Digwale, also known as Leeuwfontein, in the Province of Mpumalanga. He completed his primary schooling at Rekwele Primary School and went on to matriculate at Bingweni Secondary School in 2007.
He is passionate about media and communications, enjoys writing and conducting research and has a keen interest in the South African political media landscape.
