Young science communicators on climate change
In 2018, former participants of SAASTA’s Young Science Communicators competition, who had shown a committed interest in developing their science communication skills, were sponsored by SAASTA to attend the online science communication course offered by Stellenbosch University. SAASTA’s Young Science Communicators competition is one of various programmes at SAASTA aiming to nurture science communication skills in young scientists, empowering them to actively engage in conversations about science in broader society, through various modes of communication. To facilitate engagement during National Science Week 2019, we asked these young scientists to write an article or create any form of communication piece on a topic of their choice that relates to the theme of “Facing the harsh realities of climate change.”
