Work with the media

When speaking on radio or television, and to some extent when writing about science, be very clear and concise. Try to figure out a short, sharp way to get your point across and different ways of saying it. Then say it as many times as you can - without sounding like a lunatic! In this way, however you are edited your point can still get across. Also, it becomes difficult for editors to confuse or alter the message you are trying to get across.
Don't engage with fools! You might think it will be fun to debate a Moon landing hoax believer, an alien abductee, or even a religious apologist - but it won't be. You will end up frustrated and facing walls of defiant, illogical thinking. Stick to the mainstream and try not to be too extreme yourself. Explain science, and try not to dictate it.
