One of the main reasons that Galileo became famous was that he published quickly and his first book, Sidereus Nuncius, was short, simply written and had convincing illustrations. It helped that the implications of his observations were revolutionary as well, but that only became widely known as a result of the success his book. Exactly the same principles apply today.
