The Inspired towards Science, Engineering and Technology (I-SET) project started in 2009 as a community engagement project of the College of Science, Engineering and Technology. As the coordinator of the I-SET project, I have coached and mentored learners in robotics teams since 2009 (regional, national and international). I have presented robotics workshops for learners at expos and conferences country-wide. I have developed the I-SET Robotics Short Learning Programme. As a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing I lecture programming. In COVID times, we launched the I-SET Robotics Live Online Learning sessions that are presented weekly.

These sessions are in sync with the I-SET Robotics MOOCs that are hosted on the UNISA MOOC portal. All sessions are recorded and shared on the I-SET Yammer site. I worked at CSIR as a statistician and program developer (1986-1996), at Acuity as a systems developer (1996-2001), and at UNISA as a lecturer and senior lecturer (2002 to present). I hold a BSc (Computer Science and Statistics), BSc (Hons – Operations Research), BSc (Hons – Information systems), MSc (Information Systems), and (finally) have a PhD (Information Systems). My vision is to ensure that inspired science is accessbile.
