Stimulating young minds and sparking an interest in science and biotechnology can be achieved with the correct resources. These resources need to be carefully designed to achieve the best results and benefit the learners.
Over the years the PUB programme has developed many innovative and exciting communication products. However, they have learnt from interaction with educators that many of these products were unsuitable for classroom use. Last year, the programme had all of their products evaluated and aligned according to the school curriculum by an organisation that specialises in the development of educational material.
Following this evaluation an educator resource pack containing all the PUB resources, which have been aligned to the curriculum and divided into grade suitability, was developed.
In the resource pack is a handy folder, which contains learner activity sheets for the senior grades, a CD with basic information on biotechnology, and much more. A poster tube accompanies the folder and contains all of the PUB posters, which are suitable for classroom use.
The resource pack will be distributed to educators at SAASTA projects and programmes such as the Schools Debates project, Basic Biotechnology workshops and the Nurturing SET Talent programme.
