National Science Week 2024 Photo Challenge

  • Participants must be individuals who have a public Instagram account to be eligible.
  • Post a photograph on Instagram that creatively reflects the theme “Living in a high-tech world: should we be concerned?”.
  • Use the hashtag #NSWPhotoChallenge in the caption.
  • Tag @NRF_SAASTA (https://www.instagram.com/nrf_saasta/ ) in your post.
  • Entries must be posted between 00:01 AM (SAST), 30 September 2024  and 11:59 PM (SAST), 5 October 2024.
  • The photograph with the most likes by 14:00 PM on Monday, 7 October 2024 will be declared the winner.
  • In case of a tie, the judging panel will review the tied entries based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and engagement.
  • The winner will receive an exclusive science engagement tour to a National Research Foundation (NRF) research facility, including all necessary transport and accommodation cost within South Africa.
  • The photo must be the participant’s original work.
  • No offensive or inappropriate content allowed. Any post containing such content will be disqualified.
  • Participants must ensure their Instagram profile (or the photograph) is set to public for the duration of the challenge.
  • Photo submissions open: 30 September 2024, 00:01 AM.
  • Photo submissions close: 5 October 2024, 11:59 PM.
  • Any form of like manipulation (e.g., using bots) will result in disqualification.
  • By entering the challenge, participants grant National Science Week permission to use their submitted photos for promotional purposes.
