SAASTA's Science Communication Unit has taken the development of touch screen computers one step further … with an innovative exhibit promoting their science communication competitions.

Three competitions are profiled: the Young Science Communicators Competition, Southern African Science Lens, and the SAASTA-NSTF-BHP Billiton Science Communicator of the Year Award.

The large screen with attractive displays that awaits visitors to the Didacta Building is positively addictive. Here SAASTA's Kopano Setlhare (left) and Michelle Joubert look at the information on display.
The new touch screen profiles SAASTA's science communication competitions and role in science advancement.

These initiatives are all intended to promote excellence in science communication. Each competition is portrayed in detail on the touch screen, along with ideas and examples for possible entries, information on how to enter and examples of previous winning entries.

Aside from these competitions, the exhibit also showcases SAASTA's role in science advancement and provides the reader with reasons for communicating science to others.
